About this trip to Zimbabwe

I am going back to Africa. Not by myself, but not with the woman. I am going with Muz and Zeke. (A poor substitute, of course). However, I will not have to listen to thousands of are we there yets and be constantly on the alert for ‘hangry’ attacks.

I have been to Victoria Falls, on the border of Zim and Zambia, but that was as a tourist. This time, being a tourist is not really on the agenda. When Trudy and I were there a couple of years ago I just knew in my gut, I had to go with Muz next time he went.

We are going to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe from 15th May to 1st June, 2018, to do some voluntary work at ‘Isaiah’s Home of Love’, part of the ‘Our Neighbour’s Ministry’.

‘Our Neighbours Ministry’ is an interdenominational Christian non-profit organisation reaching out to the poorest of the poor in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, especially abandoned babies. Trudy and I have been supporting the ministry for a while, and this is a pretty important opportunity to see what they do first hand, and help out a little.

There are six key areas of Our Neighbours Ministry:

Isaiah’s Home of Love was established around 2007 to assist abandoned babies, orphans and vulnerable children in desperate need of care.

If you are interested in finding out more, go to their website; http://www.ourneighbours.org

Amongst other things, we will be leading a staff retreat, working in the kitchen, visiting the sick in the hospital, running some bible studies, visiting some local villages and I hope to be able to spend some time with the staff and students in the school.

I would love you to join us (vicariously of course) via the blog, and perhaps, if you feel it, contribute to the pre-trip fundraising efforts. We are looking to fund care for babies, food parcels for the poor and education for students. It costs about $A85 to provide a month’s food for a family; $A520 to fund a whole year’s schooling for a student. If you are moved to contribute anything contact me and I will help you out, or just go the website and contact Our Neighbours directly.

So, if you would like to follow me on this blog please go to the menu and hit follow.

The more the merrier. 😊
